Bio

Meghan Gohil is an independent producer and artist manager based in Hollywood, California. He owns Hollywood Recording Studio and distributes his work through IODA (Independent Online Recording Alliance).

Recent major credits include Cure Co-Founder Lol Tolhurst’s band, Levinhurst, and exclusive on-location recordings for AT&T's Blue Room at Vegoose in Las Vegas, where he’s engineered recordings for Trey Anastasio of Phish, Jack Johnson with Animal Liberation Orchestra, Phil Lesh & Joan Osbourne, Digable Planets, and Michael Frante. Gohil produced Levinhurst’s debut album, Perfect Life and its sophomore effort, House By the Sea released in 2007. He also co-produces and manages Chloe Day, a Los-Angeles based musician who tours the US independently, and has garnered critical praise in magazines and major newspapers across the country and well as on college and commercial radio.

Gohil studied recording and producing at Webster University in St. Louis, MO, where he earned his Masters Degree under Barry Hufker, whose credits include The Dave Brubeck Quartet, Arlo Guthrie, and Bobby McFerrin, as well with Bill Porter, the seminal engineer who recorded Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers, and Roy Orbison.

Gohil’s productions have appeared on soundtracks produced for VH-1, LifeTime, and MTV reality shows. For his Master's project at Webster University Gohil won "Media Excellence Award" for Best Studio Production in Audio. His tracks have appeared on internationally distributed compilations and in the independent film "Omaha The Movie," the first film by Dan Mervish who went on to found the Slamdance Film Festival.

Gohil credits his longevity as an independent producer to his ability to network and leverage his relationships with an impressive cross-country roster of fellow producers, engineers, musicians, promoters, and journalists. "Meghan brings the best of both worlds to the studio," said Chris King of Eleanor Roosevelt, who has been recording with him since 1989. "He's dedicated to getting the best sounds with the most appropriate feel for your project, but he never makes you feel like he's watching the clock or disrespecting your process."

At age 40, he lives in Hollywood. He holds a Master's Degree in Media Communications/Audio Productions from Webster University in St. Louis, and a Bachelor's from Washington University, also in St. Louis. In case you're wondering about his name, Meghan's parents hail from India, and he was born in Seattle - his name is Sanskrit for "Cloud and Rain."

In addition, he also has extensive industry credits in the less glamorous areas of database design. A database he built for Contemporary Productions is still widely used by industry professionals including the promoter for world-touring Blue Man Group. He continues to improve upon his database platform for the promotion of Laurence Tolhurst/Levinhurst, Chloe Day, and other Hollywood Recording Studio artists.

To relax, Gohil enjoys checking out local bands and DJs and riding his bike around his sunny and beautiful adopted town of Los Angeles. Though he has a pretty full plate and other projects on the horizon, Gohil is open to hearing from new artists at any point in their development.
